Pure, herbal, and chemical-free wellness products rooted in Ayurveda's timeless wisdom — crafted naturally for you.
Ayurbhava’s Indigo Powder is made from 100% pure leaves of Indigofera tinctoria, a time-tested Ayurvedic botanical renowned for imparting rich, natural dark shades to hair. Traditionally used as an organic hair coloring agent, Indigo works exceptionally well on its own or alongside Henna to achieve natural brown to lustrous jet-black tones without the need for harsh chemicals.
Rich in plant nutrients and organic pigments, Indigo powder deeply conditions the hair shaft, smooths dry cuticles, prevents scalp irritation, and restores brilliant natural shine. Its pure, chemical-free formulation makes it suitable for all hair types, offering a safe, gentle alternative to synthetic boxed dyes.
100% Natural Hair Color: Delivers rich brown to deep black tones without PPD or ammonia
Deeply Conditions & Smooths: Tames frizz, softens coarse strands, and adds radiant shine
Scalp Soothing & Balancing: Purifies the scalp and calms irritation and dryness
Safe & Gentle Coverage: Provides natural, long-lasting grey coverage when paired with Henna
This is the most effective method for covering grey hair completely.
Apply pure Henna paste to clean, oil-free hair. Leave it on for 1.5 to 2 hours and rinse thoroughly with plain water only. Your hair/greys will turn a bright orange-red tone (this provides the base for Indigo to bond).
In a non-metallic bowl, mix Ayurbhava Indigo Powder with warm water (around 40°C–50°C) and a pinch of salt to create a smooth, yogurt-like paste. Let the paste rest for only 10 to 15 minutes until a slight bluish/purplish film forms on the surface.
Section your freshly washed, towel-damp hair and apply the Indigo paste generously from roots to tips, ensuring complete coverage over the orange-red areas.
Cover your hair with a shower cap or plastic wrap to prevent the paste from drying out. Leave it on for 60 to 90 minutes.
Wash out the paste thoroughly using plain water only. Do not use shampoo or oil for the next 24 to 48 hours, as Indigo needs oxygen from the air to oxidize and darken into deep black.
Best for overall tinting, subtle color, and deep conditioning.
Mix: Combine Ayurbhava Indigo Powder and Pure Henna Powder in a single bowl:
Light / Warm Brown: 1 Part Indigo : 2 Parts Henna
Medium Brown: 1 Part Indigo : 1 Part Henna
Dark / Chocolate Brown: 2 Parts Indigo : 1 Part Henna
Prepare: First soak Henna in water for 4–6 hours. Just before application, mix Indigo powder with warm water in a separate cup, wait 10 minutes, and then stir both pastes together.
Apply: Distribute evenly on damp, clean hair.
Rest & Rinse: Cover with a shower cap for 1.5 to 2 hours, then rinse thoroughly with plain lukewarm water.
Clean Hair Only: Never apply on oiled or dirty hair, as oils block the plant dye from adhering to the hair cuticle.
Fresh Mixture: Unlike Henna, Indigo loses its dyeing power within 1–2 hours after mixing. Never let it sit overnight.
Moisture Boost: Indigo can be naturally astringent. If your hair feels dry, perform a light coconut or sesame oil massage 48 hours after coloring, followed by a mild herbal shampoo wash.
